buffy2On Tuesday morning a three-year-old poodle mix was discovered in a trash bag at a construction site in Springfield, Massachusetts.  The dog was emaciated and dehydrated but with the care of the Dakin Humane Society she is already showing improvements.

The female dog that has been named Buffy by the staff at the Dakin Humane Society was discovered by construction workers on Tuesday morning. Buffy was stuffed in a plastic bag that was wrapped in a blanket. In bad shape Buffy was taken to the Dakin Humane Society where she was examined and they are now treating her.

“We’re lucky enough to be able to help her, and we are doing everything to give her that chance to get what she deserves,” said Dakin Humane Society spokeswoman Candy Lash.

In only one day at the Dakin Humane Society Buffy is making remarkable improvements. When she first arrived she was unable to stand or walk, but by Wednesday she was mobile again. She still has a ways to go in recovering, but she is getting the attention and care she needs.

The Dakin Humane Society is also asking for help in finding out who is responsible for abandoning Buffy. The police are working with the Humane Society to follow any potential leads and hopefully find the person or persons responsible.

Buffy’s treatment is being paid for through the Dakin Buddy Fund. Donations can be made to that fund through this link.

Currently they are not accepting adoption applications for Buffy, but once she is healthier she will be available for adoption.
