Lisa Snyder, a woman living in a van in San Pedro, California, came across a scared dog tied to a pole. She had no way to care for him, and because her van had broken down, she had no way to get him help. So she walked all night in the pouring rain to get him to a shelter.
When Lisa first saw the dog, he was snapping at anyone who came near. But she didn’t see an aggressive dog – she saw a terrified one.
He had a sign around his neck that read “My name is Joey. I am looking for a home. Please take care of me!”
Just the right person did. Lisa contacted a local shelter, but for reasons unknown, they told her she must get Joey there herself. Her van was out of commission, so she had no choice but to walk him there. But the shelter was three miles away, and Lisa needs a cane to walk.
The walk might have taken anyone else an hour, but it took Lisa all night, and it rained the entire time. But because of her, Joey is now living the high life.
He was taken in by the Forte Animal Rescue, and got adopted by a wonderful family. He even has a little princess to treat him like a prince.
When the community found out about Lisa’s heroic deed, they banded together and created a fundraiser that received over $3,500 in donations. She was able to get her van fixed, and now she’s on the path to getting her life back together.
