On October 14, 2014, an 81-year-old German tourist and his dog were pulled from a lake in Vanier Park, Vancouver, after the man accidentally drove his car into the lake.
The accident happened late night under bad weather conditions, while the tourist tried to drive into downtown. The senior man got disoriented and thought a boat ramp was a street leading to the center of town, but in reality, the ramp led him into the lake.
Fortunately, five police officers arrived on the scene with just seconds to smash the car’s back window and save the elderly man and his dog.
Im so glad the dog made it! i hope he lost his driver license!
I see so many older drivers in accidents..I think after 75 they should be retested…
Except my husband is 76 and still drives great, if a little pedal heavy…
Actually, it was the ocean. There is no lake in Vanier Park.
Wow!!! How do you accidentally drive into a lake or ocean?
Susan Bannerman Thomas we do get tested every year!!
