Orphaned wild newborn boar piglets are being raised by a French bulldog named Baby at the Lehnitz animal sanctuary outside Berlin.
The litter of three males and three females was found abandoned in a forest. Sanctuary worker Norbert Damm told the Associated Press that as soon as the furry striped piglets were brought in, ‘Baby’ ran over and started snuggling them and keeping them warm.
Damm says the 8-year-old dog has been fretting over them incessantly. “She thinks they’re her own babies.”
Apparently Baby is a pro at adoption: she has fostered cats, raccoons, and various other orphaned animals that have found their way to the sanctuary. “She’s an uber-mother,” Damm said.
