Sparta, GA. Police Officer Travis Edwards has been arrested and charged with dogfighting and cruelty to animals.

The arrest was made Monday after an informant’s tip reached the district attorney’s office. Investigators searched his Hancock County home and confiscated several pit bulls.

42-year old Milledgeville resident Reginald Shivers was also arrested on the same charges. Both men were incarcerated at the Hancock County Jail, but Edwards was later moved to an undisclosed location for the sake of protection. There is no word on the condition or fate of the dogs seized.
