Giveaway: Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness

Life With Dogs is reader-supported. We may earn a small commission through products purchased using links on this page.

The Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness is designed to gently discourage your dog from pulling. It is easy to fit, and easy to use. There is very little acclimation time or special technique required. The Easy Walk Harness works by redirecting pressure through a front leash attachment. A patent-pending martingale closure tightens slightly across the chest and shoulder blades when your dog attempts to pull forward.

Let me tell you, it works. This $30 product has changed my relationship with my dogs. Allow me to explain. You might expect that the webmaster of this site has very well trained dogs, and I wish that were the case. Instead, I work every waking moment and never seem to get past training the basics. Combine that with a fenced yard, two Labs who have the run of fields and forests surrounding us and a great big river to play in, and you end up with little to no time on a leash, and practically no leash training. I’m guilty.

So when it comes time to leash up 180 pounds of excitable Lab ladies, things go awry. They pull like mad and don’t stop until you’re nearly airborne. Sola (pictured above) got her start early: when she was just six months old, she managed to faceplant my lovely wife, separating her AC joint and dislocating her shoulder. She is a reckless little tractor when those 4 strong legs dig in and get traction. Truffles just learned from Sola, and learned well.

As you might imagine, I dreaded walking my dogs, and that’s just wrong. So when speaking with a neighbor recently, talk turned to dogs and I asked him if his Lab was bad on a leash. “Hell yes,” he said, “But let me show you something.”

What he showed me was the Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness. I am seriously grateful.

We called Doctors Foster and Smith and requested review samples. They arrived promptly, and in less than 5 minutes we were on the go. It was an experience I won’t soon forget. It took our dogs about three tries at pulling before they simply stopped. That was weeks ago, and our walks are now a pleasure. Instead of dreading a walk on our quiet country road I now enjoy the solace – without being towed along at a fast clip.

In other words, if you have a puller and have been hesitant to try a harness, don’t be. For us there is no going back. And because we love this well made marvel, we’re going to give one away today and let you see why we’re such big fans.

More about today’s giveaway prize.

  • Unlike traditional collars, the Easy Walk Harness never causes coughing, gagging, or choking because the chest strap rests low across the breastbone, not on the delicate tracheal area.
  • Two quick-snap buckles – one on the shoulder, one on the belly make it easier to get the harness on and off.
  • Soft nylon and 4 adjustment points provide custom fit and maximum comfort.
  • Unique martingale chest loop reduces gapping and redirects forward motion.
  • The belly strap is an attractive complementary color making it easy to tell up from down.

  1. Well, they can’t sell this to any R+ trainers anymore since Premier was bought out by RadioFence (shock collar company). Despite what RadioFence said in the negotiations for the company, they have now announced they are dumping the Premier name and I wouldn’t be surprised if they gradually dump the products.

Sensible Harness, Halti, Snoot Loop… there are plenty of other altenatives.
