Now that we’re locked in winter’s icy grip for a few months, thoughts turn to spring, the sun, and anything that will make it easier to survive frigid Vermont weather until temps climb again and we can emerge from our cocoons. One thing that has been making our lives easier for the last few weeks has been Morton’s Safe-T-Pet Ice Melt. I have to admit that we have never used any salt or ice melt products around our house in the past, because we knew it could be tough on dog feet and didn’t want to end up with cracked pads or irritated dogs. In other words, we have been slipping and sliding through each winter.

Not so this year. Morton sent us samples to try for ourselves, and so far results are exactly as advertised.

See those icy paw prints above? They are long gone after a quick application of Safe-T-Pet. Temps this week have been in the teens and twenties with daily flurries, the perfect prescription for icing on any surface. Now that we have applied Safe-T-Pet to decks and walkways my heart doesn’t skip a beat when Nigel comes running for the back door at 40 m.p.h., and I have yet to go down with an armload of firewood – something I cannot say for last winter.  🙂
