In Rancho Santa Fe, CA, on September 9th, the 7th Annual Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon, sponsored by Iams, dogs will be making waves and educating the public about the plight of homeless animals. This is the biggest event of its kind and will take place at the Dog Beach in Del Mar.

The dog surfers will be judged by celebrity judges; Michael Munoz of CBS’ Amazing Race, retired pro surfer and actor Kalani Robb, and TransWorld SURF Editor-in-Chief Chris Cote. Iams’ VP of Canine Communications, the four-legged Pawl Griffin, will also be competing.

This is the first time animal-lovers around the world can watch the “compawtition” live on Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Google+ Page or on the homepage of www.animalcenter.org.

Other activities planned for the day include the Beach Bum Bikini Babe Canine Costume contest, Doo the Dah, an event where people and their dogs come together to raise money for the center, and more than 40 interactive vendor booths. All proceeds will go toward the animals and the programs at the Helen Woodward Animal Center.

Don’t forget to tune in online on September 9th!
