Homeless veteran pleading for return of missing service dog

Fuzzy is missing and her owner is pleading for her return.  Charlie Booth, a self described homeless veteran, is searching for his missing service dog Fuzzy, a black-mouth cur who is about 1 year old.  She has been missing in Jacksonville, Texas since Saturday and is like a lifeline for Booth who suffers from partial paralyzation and equilibrium problems.

Booth and Fuzzy have been together about 9 months and he trained her with help from Gold Star German Shepherds: All Breed Dog Training & Service Dogs. She is certified as a service dog and Booth has all of her papers and just received her vest.  She is about a foot-and-a-half high and has a black spot on her tongue.  “She’s my baby, I just want her back,” Booth said. “People know me and Fuzzy are together. We go together.”

Fuzzy assists Booth in getting up and down and helps him keep his balance.  “She helps me mentally and emotionally and physically,” he said, and he is so grateful to have her that when he gets his disability cheque the first thing he does is buy her a steak.   Booth is very worried about Fuzzy and is anxious to be reunited with her.

He has visited the police and local shelters and has reached out for help from the local Marine Corps League Det. 1381, confirmed Commandant Chuck Bones, even though he does not like to talk about his military service.  He unfortunately does not have the resources or transportation to launch a bigger search, and is pleading for help.  “Just bring her back,” he pleaded. “I don’t want to meet you, I don’t want to see you, I just want my dog.”

Anyone with information or if Fuzzy is found, please return her to Booth in the area behind Cindy’s Floral on S. Jackson Street or call the Jacksonville Daily Progress at 903-586-2236.  He will be forever grateful for your help.  The dog in the picture is not Fuzzy, but she looks very similar.

    • Curs are a breed. I have a Mountain Cur, there are also Catahoula Leopard Curs, and Fuzzy is a Black Mouth Cur. Look it up.
