Ikea, a popular national home furnishings store, is teaming up with several shelters throughout the United States and several other countries in a special effort to promote the adoption of many dogs that are available and looking for great forever homes with forever families.

The Swedish furniture mega-store recently partnered with the Animal Lovers League Shelters and the Save Our Street Dogs Shelters to help people not only pick out high quality home furnishings, but also to help them get the one accessory that every great couch or chair needs; a furry friend to sleep on it.

Ikea is trying to help shelters, often with limited resources to spread the word about adoption, and really push home the idea that adoption is the best way to go when you want to find a furry best friend to add to your family.  There were professional photo shoots, paid for by Ikea, that have produced some great images of the available dogs which will be featured with the furniture on showroom floors.

Life sized images of the dogs will be shown in many different poses, such as having a snooze on a comfy couch or chair, begging for a tasty treat at the dinner table, or just stretched out and relaxing on an area rug.  This is to promote the idea that not only are items you pick going look amazing in your home, but also show how that new, furry family member, adopted from a local shelter will really “tie the room together.”

Shoppers will have the opportunity to get more information about the dog they see, such as a bio and video, by scanning a code on the back of the image with their tablet or smart phone.  These bios and videos will also be available at the Home for Hope website.
