A woman from Arnold, MO, is giving her dog the credit for saving her life after she was the victim of a home invasion last week.

The victim, who wished to remain anonymous, told KTVI the break-in happened at about 11:15 am on Tuesday.

“You don’t think somebody is going to do this to you,” she told KTVI.

She reported that the assailant, a man, pushed his way in after pretending to run out of gas nearby. When she couldn’t hear him clearly through the door, she opened it. .

“I was polite and I told him I said, ‘No sir, I am sorry,’ and he reached his hand in and around and punched me in my face,” she said.”I think he realized that nobody was coming up behind me asking, you know, who is here and that is when he attacked me,” she said.

During the attack, however, she said her dog, Sony — a rescue pup she’s had for two years — came to her aid, storming the suspect and scaring him off.

“I thank God she was here because I don’t know what would have happened,” she said. “She saved my life. She is the hero; she deserves everything.”
