Kui the Paragliding Dog

It’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s a…flying dog?!?

Peter Michelmore of Gravity Hawaii Paragliding school and his Fiance Bonnie Hobson fly with their 8 year old female Black lab dog named Kui in a tandem paraglider at Makapuu Beach, Hawaii. Kui has her new, specially designed paragliding dog harness so that she can fly with owners, instead of chasing paragliders on the beach.

I may be in the minority with this opinion but I don’t find this even mildly amusing. Flying is not natural, for humans and especially for dogs. There is an inherent risk for injury or death. Subjecting yourself to this activity is a human’s choice but to haul a dog up there and THINK he is happy about it is ridiculous. I worry about my dogs going up and down our deck ramp. I sure would never subject any animal of mine to this.
It’s all fun and games until…….they come down too hard in a wind gust, have equipment malfunction, etc, etc. I love my animals too much to risk any kind of unnatural behavior. IMHO

@ Dixie – well, riding in a car is not “natural” for either humans or dogs, either. My dogs love car rides. Actually, my dogs like being wherever I am. This dog looked like he had a great time.

That dog looked like she really enjoyed it. She even know what to do when they were landing. Hey–I think it’s great that people and their dogs can enjoy so many activities together! Enjoy each day!
