timberThe past two Thanksgivings a Washington family was missing an important member of the family, their dog Timber. Two and a half years ago Timber went missing. Now the family will get to spend this Thanksgiving reunited with Timber thanks to the help of a microchip.

Animal services in Salt Lake City, Utah picked up Timber on Friday thinking he was a stray. Once they got him back to the shelter they found a microchip. Although the information for Timber’s owner was out of date a secondary listing had the information for the owner’s son.

Shelter workers were able to get a hold of Timber’s family and were surprised when they discovered Timber belonged all the way in the state of Washington.

Timber’s family was also surprised, but also excited to hear their long lost dog had finally been found.

“They were absolutely thrilled,” said Sandy Nelson with Salt Lake County Animal Services. “They were absolutely overjoyed that he had been found.”

The family drove to Utah to pick Timber up and arrived on Monday, happy to take their dog home for the holidays.
