You may or may not have heard of Surf Dog Ricochet, who empowers kids with special needs, people with disabilities, wounded warriors and veterans with PTSD, but it’s likely to DO know the Elf on the Shelf.

Each year, Ricochet (and her yellow lab sister, Rina) team up with the Elf for a Christmas Prank War.

Why?

“We do it as part of Ricochet’s Surfin’ Santa Paws Howliday Giving Drive,” says her owner, Judy Fridono. “Each year she raises funds for different causes. This year it’s for her new Waves of Empowerment program.”

The Waves of Empowerment program is where the helped turn into helpers, turning the people who Ricochet inspires into volunteers! Here it’s the special-needs kids and the veterans who become helpers for the next wave of disabled surfers get on the board with a talented surfing dog!

“Once I got started with my dogs Ricochet and Rina and the Elf, I kept getting ideas, and my dogs kept obliging! It’s become kind of a tradition now.”

For 2017, Ricochet will be doing more with her Waves of Empowerment program, and a new puppy, Cori, will be getting involved.

“We’re not sure she’ll be surfing yet,” says Fridono, “but if she wants to, she can!

In the Prank War, the Elf pranks the dogs and they do their best to get him back. You can check out the whole series here, but below you’ll find a few of our favorites!
