Puppy pool playtime!

What started out as a fun afternoon at the Longview Swim Center in Longview, TX, turned out to be a fun afternoon cut short. It was the last day the pool was open for the season. A four-hour Dog Swim was planned and all the dogs were hyped up about having the pool to themselves without any of those pesky humans getting in their way.

After a little over an hour, someone spotted a “floater.” Dog poopy.  Uh-oh.

“When you have a fecal release in the pool, there are guidelines provided by the CDC for how to clean it up,” said Longview’s Parks and Recreation Manager Seth Pyle. The CDC guidelines are for human “accidents” but they decided to follow the same guidelines in this case, and all the pups were sent home 3 hours early. “We have to err on the side of caution,” said animal control officer Jacqui Lynch.

Longview Swim Center has been hosting the event for 6 years and this was the first time they’ve had to deal with something like this.

No one is sure who the culprit is that left the “gift” and so far, none of the dogs are talking.  A cute little dachsie girl was overheard saying she thought it was the husky because of the size of the “gift.” This could not be confirmed.
