After flying to Sacramento and receiving his first surgery Thor is able to do things he hasn’t in months, like hold a tennis ball and even smile.

When Thor was rescued by Artic German Shepherd Rescue he was badly injured and had a locked jaw. Thor was extremely underweight and was unable to open his mouth to eat or drink. The rescue was able to find surgeons at VCA Animal Hospital in California who could help fix Thor’s jaw.

Thor made the journey to Sacramento last week thanks to a free flight from Alaska Airlines. On Friday he had his first surgery. Surgeons removed several bone fragments and four teeth to get Thor’s mouth open three inches. Thor is now able to hold a tennis ball, open his mouth to eat and show off his winning smile. Surgeons will continue to work on Thor’s mouth over the next few days to improve his range of motion.
