castawaySaturday morning over 30 dogs were rescued from a puppy mill as part of Castaway Critters Project Liberty. The newly freed dogs spent their first day of freedom being pampered and cleaned at Pet Bath and Beyond in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Saturday marked Castaway Critters’ second Project Liberty. Back in July of 2012 the first Project Liberty rescued  31 puppy mill dogs that were turned over by a kennel owner. Without Castaway Critters and volunteers the dogs would have been destroyed.

This past weekend Project Liberty again came to the rescue of 31 unwanted puppy mill dogs. The dogs were brought to Pet Bath and Beyond where they were bathed, shaved and given pampering and proper grooming.  The shop closed business for the day to volunteer with the project. “We got a mixture of Chihuahua, Shih Tzus, most of the dogs are in pretty god shape,” said Michelle Semken of Pet Bath and Beyond.

After being properly groomed the dogs all went to a vet where they were spayed and neutered and received necessary vet care. They will be available for adoption through Castaway Critters. More information can be found at their website.
