The stray dog who comforted a Marine and his battalion while they served in Afghanistan is now safe in her forever home, saved by a social media group effort.

Master Sgt. Joshua Roth of the 1st Maintenance Battalion, Engineer Maintenance Company was at the San Diego airport last week to greet ‘Nolay’ as she arrived in the US, and cameras were there to capture the reunion.

Nolay made the journey thanks to assistance from Tigger House and the Puppy Rescue Mission’s Facebook Page. Enthusiastic donors shared her story and helped raise the $3,700 required for her transport.

“They find a companion like Nolay [in forward operating bases], and help them get them back … and [ultimately] give to them a lot of what they gave to us,” he said.
