booogieThere was an unexpected participant in the YMCA Half-Marathon in Evansville, Indiana on Saturday. As runners began the race a chocolate lab named Boogie joined in and ran all the way to the finish line.

Boogie joined in with the many runners and followed them for 13.1 miles until he crossed the finish line and was picked up by animal control. According to the Evansville Police Department Boogie completed the race without any assistance.

Evansville Animal Care and Control were able to reunite Boogie with his owners later that day.

“Boogie walked in the door, went straight to his bed and has been sleeping ever since,” Boogie’s owners posted on Facebook. “I’m sure he enjoyed all of the company. Sorry about the late registration!”
