In Santa Barbara, CA, Malvern is the newest addition to the office of Joyce Dudley, District Attorney. It took three years for Dudley to find Canine Companions and work through the process of being evaluated, receive approval for a service dog, and for a dog to be trained for their needs.

Malvern, a 2-year-old Lab/Golden Retriever mix, joined the office last week. He provides support needed by those dealing with emotional, physical, and psychological issues. In his first week he was able to give comfort and strength to a victim, allowing her to take the stand and give her testimony.

“This dog was raised to love — Malvern has a calming effect on not only the victims but also on our staff of secretaries and attorneys alike,” said Dudley.
