For several years Graham Waspe relied on the help of his guide dog, Edward, for freedom and mobility – and then Edward started losing his eyesight to cataracts.

Edward’s condition deteriorated rapidly, requiring surgery to remove his eyes in order to alleviate the painful pressure caused by advanced cataracts. Determined to maintain quality of life for himself and his best friend, Graham chose to return the favor to Edward. Now, the two of them are finding their way around with the help of a new family member : a guide dog named Opal.

Note: two videos are included for the sake of thoroughness – in the first Graham spends most of the interview discussing Edward’s condition and treatment.
