Former U.S. President Harry Truman once said “if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog,” and President Obama now has two friends.
Yesterday the White House made the announcement introducing the new lady – the four-legged kind.
Meet Sunny, a black Portuguese water dog just like older brother Bo.
According to a White House blog, Sunny is full of energy and is the perfect little sister to Bo. “The First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality.”
The blog also said “Bo doesn’t have enough dog interaction,” therefore getting him a little sister was just the right thing to do.
The public can expect Sunny to accompanying big brother Bo and the President in the Oval Office. She will also join the First Family in their daily walks after 6:30 p.m., and for Sunny will make an excellent addition to this year’s Holiday card.
The Obamas are making a donation to the Washington Humane Society in honor of Sunny.
