Batman hopes his peppy personality will win over the hearts of a new family.

Leaping with ease, chasing down the ball and walking around like he owns the place are typical for “Batman the Superdog”.

“I think the coolest thing about him is just how happy he is,” says Anjolee, who is taking care of Batman.

Batman’s extremely happy persona leaves few hints at his rough upbringings.

“He has no idea that he’s technically handicapped in any way,” she said. “He was hit by a car about a year ago and he dragged himself across several lanes of traffic and kind of laid in an alley for a few days,” explaining the terrifying accident that took place in Taiwan.

Though many injured pups would be put down, Batman’s peppy personality made the veterinarians reluctant to euthanize him. Instead, Batman was sent to UC Davis, where he now stays with foster mom, Anjolee, a second-year veterinarian student. Their first meeting sparked an instant bond between the two.

“He’s just a happy-go-lucky, fun guy who’s got quite the personality,” she said.

Batman has been a huge inspiration for the human friends he has made.

“Just to never give up and not let anything bring you down, take you down or make you think like you can’t do what you want to do,” she said.

After winning the “Happiest Dog in America” contest by the HUB TV Network, Anjolee plans to spend his $2500 winnings on braces, that will allow Batman to run around more freely. It is her hope that the exposure after his win will help Batman find his “fur-ever” home.

“I’m hoping that it’ll just make it more likely that he gets adopted because he really deserves a good home,” she said.
