Lilly is a four month old Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog crossed with a hound. Lily, her siblings, and her mother were found as strays and taken to a Florida shelter. Sadly the shelter practiced euthanasia, and the whole pack were set to be put down.
Luckily, the Suncoast Animal Shelter of Palm Harbor intervened and took the family into their shelter, which does not euthanize healthy dogs.
There is only a limited known history for Lilly and her family. The puppies are around four months old, and the mother is a pure breed Great Pyrenees.
It is unclear how or why the family of dogs ended up as strays. The shelter is attempting to find loving homes for all the dogs, but ask potential adopters to be aware that Lilly and her siblings could weigh up to 80 pounds when they are fully grown. They are recommending that only adopters who are willing to care for, or have experience with, large breeds should consider Lilly.
She is described as having a fabulous personality, loving and playful, but shelter staff say that she is still nervous around new people, animals, and noises.
A shelter spokeswoman said “She will need to be adopted by a patient family, who will go slow and earn her love and trust. She has a very calm, sweet personality and will be a fantastic dog when she grows up.”
