irelandAn unknown man was the hero last Friday when he risked his life to save a dog that had been thrown into the River Ilen in West Cork, Ireland.

A Canadian woman was eating at the West Cork Hotel when she witnessed the entire event. First she saw the dog being thrown deliberately into the river. She quickly ran outside not sure if she actually saw what she saw. Then she spotted the dog struggling for its life in the river and screamed for help.

The river was at full tide but an unknown man jumped in to save the struggling dog. Staff at the West Cork Hotel came with a ladder to help the man climb out of the river with the dog. “The man saved it and on his way to the top- with the dog in his arms – the dog just jumped out of his grasp shook himself and ran wagging its tail after the despicable owner,” said one witness.

The Canadian woman gave a statement to the police in hopes that they can find the owner and prosecute him. There is no further information on the case at the moment.
