Andy Murray didn’t get to enjoy his gold and silver medals for long. One day after the Scotsman defeated Roger Federer for the Olympic singles gold medal, then earned a silver with fellow Brit Laura Robson in the mixed doubles, he had his medals “stolen” by his two border terriers, Maggie May and Rusty.

The Hefner VA Medical Center, in Salisbury, has now got a new therapy dog to work with residents. Her name is Semper Fi, but she is generally known as “Fi.” She is a rescue, estimated to be around a year old, and is only called by her full name very occasionally, when she forgets herself and needs correcting. She is a lab cross, and is settling in well in her new role.

160 dogs have been rescued from a puppy mill in Brunswick County, NC. After an anonymous tip, the Sheriff’s department teamed up with the SPCA and the Humane Society, to conduct the raid and rescue the animals. “Personally I’ve never seen anything quite like this,” Sheriff John Ingram said. “The inside of the residences and behind the residence are some of the worst conditions I’ve ever experienced on anything I’ve ever been on.”
