The NBC television show “Chicago Fire” will honor the top firehouse dog in the country with a cameo in their popular show. Hundreds of submissions were received for the contest from all over the country and they have been narrowed down to three finalists that are vying for the title of “Top Dog.”

Holyoke Police Department’s K-9 Riker will be a lot safer while in the line of duty thanks to a young girl name Alison Henry. The 10-year-girl asked for donations instead of gifts for her birthday so that Riker could have a bullet proof vest.

Over one hundred police officers throughout South Florida gathered on Wednesday to say goodbye to Max, a highly decorated police dog that was killed in the line of duty earlier this month.

Eight years ago a border collie was found abandoned and tied up to the door of a shelter. That dog would find a home with psychiatrist Ralph Diner who named the border collie Hero, a name that would suit him well. Hero would become a famous therapy dog, even earning a presidential medal. On Saturday after years of helping other Hero passed away in Diner’s arms.

Two unknown heroes save the life of a woman and her dog and now the woman is hoping to find her heroes to thank them.

Two-year-old Jakob Heintzelman went missing Tuesday afternoon for over 10 hours. Not only did a police dog help find him, but Jakob’s own dog was by his side the entire time he was missing.

The graduates will go on to be search and rescue dogs, medical alert dogs and police dogs.

When a 67-year-old man in a wheelchair was stabbed at his Lacey, Washington home and left to die, his dog came to the rescue. Bella, a pit bull, ran to find help and not only helped save her the man’s life, but helped police catch the man responsible.

After serving three tours of duty, Captain Jason Haag with the Unites States Marine Corps struggled to adjust to life back home. Unable to leave his basement for two years and considering suicide Haag decided to try one last thing, getting a service dog. That decision saved Haag’s life.
