Pet owners in Seattle are furious over the actions a property manager has taken to keep dogs off her lawn. Cayenne pepper was intentionally dumped all over the lawn to send a message to pet owners that failure to pick up after their dogs would not be tolerated.

A dog that has survived terrible treatment at the hands of her owner is now being honored as the mascot of 2013’s National Justice for Animals Week. Sunny, a small poodle mix from West Virginia was rescued in 2011 from an owner who collected dogs so that he could torture and kill them while he forced his girlfriend to watch.

A man who wanted to surrender his dog but didn’t want to pay the $60 fee to do so, put his dog’s life at risk to get rid of him for free. Last Wednesday the man walked into the Cumberland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals shelter and said he wanted to leave his dog there.

The students at Rochester’s School 19 have a new addition, a therapy dog named Blaze. Blaze is a yellow lab that together with his owner, school psychologist Angela Mullally, helps special needs students with their social and emotional development.
